Nobody is assessed at the door. There is no moment where I decide whether you were worth it, no comparison with anybody, and no version of this where somebody is being judged and not told.

That fear is what makes a first hour stiff and it is entirely misplaced. What is actually happening is two people finding out how the other one talks, which takes twenty minutes and cannot be shortened by being nervous about it.
