Welcome. Top is on my listing and it is a description of who decides, not of what happens.

The list is settled in writing beforehand and nothing joins it once anybody is in a room, in either direction, however well an evening is going. Everything inside that list is mine to order and to pace, and I will not be asking every four minutes whether that is still all right.

The reason is that constant checking is its own kind of absence. Most people who book this have had precisely that from somebody else and were too polite to say.

Bottom is not on my listing and it is not a modesty. I would do it without conviction and that is audible.

The other half is that I will say what I think somebody wants before they do, and be wrong perhaps a third of the time. Being wrong out loud early costs a great deal less than being wrong quietly for an hour.

The one thing that ends it early is somebody arriving having decided to test whether the written list is real. It is real. Testing it costs an evening and it has happened three times.
