Whether anybody returns depends on the second booking, and about half decide it is not for them.

The first runs on novelty and it works on a current nobody can produce twice. The second has no current at all: two people who have met, in a room, with nothing being discovered.

Half find that flat and never write again, which is a reasonable verdict and not a failure of anything. The other half discover that the flat version is what they were actually after and book a third within a fortnight.

I have stopped trying to make the second one feel like the first. That attempt is visible and it is what loses the half who might have stayed.
